F5Bot alternative
F5Bot emails you when a keyword shows up on Reddit, Hacker News, or Lobsters. That is a good, boring monitoring job. Founder CRM does not replace it. We do not run hosted keyword alerts. We keep the people you decide to answer after the ping.
What F5Bot is
F5Bot watches Reddit, Hacker News, and Lobsters for keywords you enter and sends email when they appear in a post or comment. It has been around since 2017. There is a free plan. Paid plans add filters, Slack, and feeds. That is their product on f5bot.com, not a metric we invented.
If your only need is "tell me when someone says the product name," start there. It is a smaller promise than a CRM, and it keeps that promise.
When F5Bot is the right tool
- The keyword is distinctive: a product name, a domain, an uncommon phrase.
- You can ignore noise, or the keyword is rare enough that noise is small.
- An email a few minutes later is soon enough.
- You do not need the match filed next to a follow-up date.
Common keywords are a bad fit for any alert inbox. "CRM" will drown you. Buyer-shaped phrases on our keyword ideas page are for search, not for dumping into a mention firehose.
What happens after the alert
The email is not the conversation. You still open the thread, decide if the person has a live problem, write a reply that is actually about them, and remember to look again if they go quiet.
That last part is where people go back to a spreadsheet, or they do not go back at all. F5Bot is not a failure when that happens. It finished its job at the ping.
Where Founder CRM fits
Founder CRM is a free Chrome extension. People, notes, and a next action live in your Chrome profile. Optional flows browse Reddit, X, or Product Hunt in the session you are already signed into and keep matches. It does not email you for every keyword hit, and it does not send the reply.
