What shut down, and what is still open

As of September 2026, the GummySearch homepage says the product is closed as of 30 November 2025. The closing note dated 30 November 2025 says GummySearch is closed for business so it can comply with Reddit's API policies, which the note says forbid commercial applications. New account signups are closed.

The same closing note, read in September 2026, spells out who still has access. Active subscribers keep the product until the end of their billing period, with a maximum of one year, and the subscription does not renew. Free-tier users can still log in to export account data or delete the account, and the note says all other functionality is disabled. Lifetime-deal holders keep access until 30 November 2026. Day-pass holders are defaulted to the free tier and can still activate a day pass they already bought.

The earlier final chapter, dated 6 November 2025 and written by Fed, the founder, is the source for why. GummySearch relied on Reddit's API. Fed wrote that they could not reach an agreement for a commercial Reddit Data API license that matched Reddit's policies, so the product had to become non-commercial or shut down. The timeline in that note: from 1 December 2025 through 30 November 2026, access is for past customers only and no new payments are accepted. On 1 December 2026, GummySearch shuts down entirely and user data is deleted.

What GummySearch was

The homepage, as of September 2026, calls GummySearch "The Research Tool for Reddit" and says you can discover, search, and analyze communities. That is audience research: a map of where people talk, so you can read it. It is a different job from sitting in your own Reddit account and answering one person.

Founders used that research tab, then still had to go comment. A lot of people stalled on the comment, or pasted the same paragraph into twenty threads. The shutdown removed the research tab for new users. It did not remove the need to remember who you talked to. Founder CRM is aimed at that second gap. It does not discover and analyze communities the way that homepage described.

F5Bot for a free email alert

As of September 2026, F5Bot says it monitors Reddit, Hacker News, and Lobsters and emails you when a keyword appears. The free plan is $0. Silver is $9.99 per month. Gold is $49.99 per month. That is a listener, which GummySearch customers sometimes used next to research, and it is not a community-analysis workspace. The pairing note is the F5Bot alternative page.

Syften for a wider listener

As of September 2026, Syften lists keyword monitoring across Reddit and many other public communities, with Entry at $29.95 per month, Standard at $49.95 per month, and PRO at $119.95 per month. Reddit alerts can go to email, Slack, RSS, API, or webhook. Their Reddit delivery target is under one minute. That target is theirs, not a number we measured. Brand24 when the output is a report

As of September 2026, Brand24 pricing lists Individual at $249 per month, or $199 per month billed annually, with 3 keywords, 2,000 mentions a month, and updates every 12 hours. Reddit is a listed source. A 14-day trial does not require a credit card. Choose it when you want a monitoring dashboard across networks. Skip it when you wanted the research tab back at a founder price.

Free subreddit finder when you need to find the right rooms

Before searching Reddit manually, the free subreddit finder maps your niche to the subreddits where buyers ask for help. Type what you sell and get a list of communities with a direct Reddit search link for each. Free, no account, runs in your browser. It covers the community-discovery step GummySearch had, within the limits of a curated static list rather than a full research warehouse. It does not monitor keywords, send alerts, or store your results.

Reddit search when you will do the reading

Reddit's own search still works for a specific problem. Static example phrases, which are not a live index, are on the buyer-phrase list. How to reply once you have a thread is the Reddit first-customers guide. You will miss posts you do not look up. That is acceptable when the niche is small and a subscription is not.

When GummySearch is still the better pick

If you already pay, or you hold a lifetime deal, keep using GummySearch for discover, search, and community analysis until your access ends. As of September 2026, the closing note and the final chapter both say past customers keep the product through the wind-down, and the final chapter dates the full shutdown, including data deletion, at 1 December 2026. We did not rebuild that research workspace, and we are not a place to spend the months you already paid for.

GummySearch is also the better description of the job when what you miss is a map of communities. A keyword email, a Brand24 report, and a Chrome people list each cover a slice. None of them is that map. If you never had an account, you cannot sign up for the map. The closing note says new signups are closed.

Use the wind-down on purpose: export what the closing note still lets a free account export, and write down the communities you will keep reading after 1 December 2026. Then pick the ongoing tool for the job you still have. Alerts, a report, or a people list.

Where Founder CRM fits
